Os Creative Arts Emmys, os Emmys dedicados às categorias técnicas e que englobam também os prémios de representação para actores e actrizes convidadas, foram entregues esta madrugada e tiveram algumas surpresas, como a vitória na categoria de Melhor Actriz Convidada (Drama) ter escapado à favorita Lily Tomlin (“Damages”), tendo sido entregue à sueca Ann-Margret (“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”), que recebeu a única ovação em pé da noite. Também Michael Giacchino não conseguiu o prémio pela sua partitura para o final de “Lost”, com Sean P. Callery (“24″) a levar a melhor.
Os restantes destaques vão para as já esperadas vitórias de John Lithgow por “Dexter”, que ganhou assim o seu quinto Emmy e ao aceitá-lo enganou-se e agradeceu à HBO em vez de agradecer à Showtime; Betty White, pela sua participação no “Saturday Night Light”; Neil Patrick Harris, pela sua participação em “Glee”; a equipa de argumentistas do “Colbert Report” para o prémio de escrita de programas de variedades; e Jeff Probst, como apresentador de reality competition. Destaque ainda para as vitórias de “Bored to Death” no design dos créditos iniciais e “Nurse Jackie” pela música dos créditos iniciais.
